Africa: Humblefacture's Thoughts on "Bushpunk"

Over time this post has been stumbled on and linked to by some pretty cool tech blogs out there. Among them: Timbuktu Chronicles, White African and, recently, Wired magazine's Beyond the Beyond blog.

No new sci-fi genre has been born just yet, rather, what I think Bushpunk (I didn't coin the word either) --as a fictional milieu or as Africans innovating solutions to their own problems--brings into the fray is a whole new context and legitimacy for bridging the needs of hi-tech gadgetry to low-fi energy sources or eco-systems as is the case in many parts of rural Africa.

One of the interesting takes on Bushpunk, from a design perspective, recently brought to my attention is that of new design initiative Humblefacture's Dominic Muren - here
